Council teams up with property companies to provide affordable homes to rent or buy
WEST Lancs Council has teamed up with two property companies to develop new affordable homes in Hesketh Bank and Burscough.
The authority has been working with the Regenda Group to develop 14 new properties for affordable rent and sale in Chapel Road, Hesketh Bank.
These are expected to be completed by May and comprise four two–bedroom houses, four three-bedroom houses and six two-bedroom apartments.
The houses will be available for shared ownership sale through Redwing Living, part of the Regenda Group, while the apartments will be available for rent.
The council has nomination rights for the rental apartments, and initial preference will be given to those with connections to the Hesketh Bank area.
The authority has also arranged with Taylor Wimpey Homes to provide five two-bedroomed houses for affordable rent at Delph Drive, Burscough, which are expected to be completed between April and May.
Regenda Homes, part of the Regenda Group, will own and manage these houses.
The council has nomination rights for three of the homes while the remaining two will be allocated directly by Regenda Homes.
Councillor Jennifer Patterson, West Lancs Council’s cabinet member for housing and inclusion, said: “The council has made a commitment to providing affordable housing. The development of these homes is another example of how we are delivering that promise to people in our communities.”
The rented apartments in Hesketh Bank and the three new homes in Burscough will be advertised on HomeFinder, the council’s letting scheme. People will need to be registered with HomeFinder so they can bid for properties. Information on how to register is also available on the council website at www.westlancshomefinder.co.uk.
Residents interested in these properties are advised to check the website regularly as they will be advertised soon.
