  • Family fundraisers aim to shine for Twinkle House

    Henry James

A FATHER and daughter from Up Holland are once again teaming up with the landlord of their local pub, The Stanley Arms, to launch a fundraising drive for charity.

Phil Wallis and daughter Leah are organising a host of events - including a ‘Our Big Gig’ - in aid of children’s charity, Twinkle House.

The charity, based at Gorsey Place, East Gillibrands, provides a sensory support service for children and young people in the North West up to the age of aged 19 with disabilities or additional needs.

Phil said: “Following the success of Our Big Gig @ the Stanley last year, we have decided to do it all over again this time raising funds for Twinkle house in Skelmersdale.

“Leah, landlord Carl Buck and I, have been joined by Mick Lyon in organising this year's event.”

The events will take place over the May Day bank holiday weekend starting on Friday, April 28 at the Stanley in Ormskirk Road with a Jukebox Friday where a DJ will play any three songs of people’s choice for £1.

This will be followed on Saturday, April 29 with a sponsored walk day taking place at Derwentwater, near Keswick in the Lake District.

And on Sunday, April 30 ‘Our Big Gig’ will be held at the Stanley with a total of 16 live acts taking to the stage from 12.30pm till late.

Rounding off the weekend’s event will be an indoor car boot sale at the pub on Monday, May 1 starting at 9am.

Last year’s ‘Our Big Gig’ event raised funds for West Lancashire High School in Skelmersdale.
