  • Police hunt burglar who broke into building through the roof

    Ollie Cowan

DETECTIVES are hunting a man after he broke into a Chapel Street building through the roof.

Police dogs, a helicopter and private security were called to the JD clothing store on Chapel Street shortly before 11pm on Saturday night (July 15) to reports of a burglary.

At around 10.50pm, police received an emergency report that a man had gained entry via the roof and was inside the premises.

Officers, assisted by the National Police Air Service, attended and conducted a search of the building and surrounding area.

The offender, who had made an untidy search of the shop and an office, was not located.

CCTV opportunities are being explored and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

Detectives are appealing to anyone who may have seen the offender in the Chapel Street area shortly before or after the incident, or who has any information at all on the incident, to contact them.

Call Merseyside Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
