Skelmersdale remembers the fallen
THE town again paid tribute to those who have suffered or lost their lives serving their country at the annual Remembrance Sunday parade in Skelmersdale on November 12.
Veterans from the services, current military personnel and civic dignitaries were joined by members of the public for the commemorations.
Deputy Mayor of West Lancs, Councillor Noel Delaney, accompanied by the director of housing and inclusion, Jacqui Sinnott-Lacey, joined the parade which marched from Liverpool Road, to the war memorial on Sandy Lane for a service and wreath-laying ceremony at 11am, which included a minute’s silence, Last Post and Reveille.
Alan Lewis, chairman of the Skelmersdale Veterans’ Association said: “We would like to thank all the cadets, Skelmersdale Brass Band, the Scouts and Guides plus the emergency services for their support.”
