Action urged to stop parked cars blocking school buses on road
SCHOOL buses are being “severely hampered” in Maghull by cars parked on both sides of a road, says a resident.
Roy Greason wants the borough council to plant shrubs on the pavement of Old Racecourse Road to help stop the problem.
Mr Greason has sent the Champion photographs which show school buses being blocked on the road by parked cars.
He said: “It has been a problem for some time now.
“My 86-year-old partially sighted neighbour has difficulty crossing the road.
“She has to navigate gaps between the parked cars, to get to the post box, when cars can come at speed through the restricted road width.
“I have only recently had a H bracket installed to restrict parking to either side of our drives.
“But the recent incident was caused by the white van parked on the grass verge on the other side next to the tree.”
Mr Greason said he has approached the borough council’s highways department about having posts and shrubs installed on the grass opposite his drive to prevent cars parking there.
A spokesman for Sefton Council said: “We are aware of this issue and are working with ward members to try and find a solution to prevent further obstructive parking.”
