Birkdale blooming thanks to volunteers
BIRKDALE Village is blooming after volunteers planted almost 1,000 mini daffodils which are now in flower.
The work has been done for Spring and 36 tree squares and 10 planters have been filled.
Ralph Gregson, chairman of Birkdale Civic Society arranged the work and has received praise from residents and shoppers.
Mr Gregson wants to thank the volunteers who planted the bulbs and looked after them during the growing season.
The display will continue hopefully for a number of weeks and will then be replaced by summer flowers, in time for the Britain in Bloom contest, which is being held at the end of July.
Different organisations and councillors have supported the work by Birkdale Civic society and Mr Gregson wants to thank them.
He commented: “We need to raise £2,000 per year to pay for our flowers and plants.”
