  • Lesley braves the shave to help hospital

    Henry James

A TEACHER at Crow Orchard Primary School in Skelmersdale ‘braved the shave’ to raise money for the neonatal unit at Ormskirk Hospital.

After pupils at the school in School Lane had taken part in a series of fundraising events for the Mayor of West Lancs’ charities, it was time for the adults to show their mettle.

It was decided a teacher should undergo a sponsored head shave and Lesley Jones, as project co-ordinator, was the ‘chosen’ one!

Lesley said: “Crow Orchard Primary School pupil parliament and school council have made a most valiant effort towards one of the Mayor's most sought after trophies - the most unusual method of fundraising for one of her nominated charities.

“I was fortunate enough to become the co-ordinator in September and I have seen how much work they have put in, so when I was asked to step up for this most unusual task the only answer could be yes.

“We managed to raise a wonderful £248.56 for the neonatal unit at Ormskirk Hospital.

“We are very proud to have a number of children in our school who have been recipients of their excellent care and thrive in every way, thanks to their help.”
