College student nominated for Francesco hairdressing competition - Spotlight
A STUDENT from West Lancashire College reached the final stages of a prestigious hairdressing contest.
Simone Ashurst was nominated for the Francesco Spotlight competition, created by the award-winning company for students with less than three years’ experience.
Nominees were assessed on cut and finish and colouring techniques and Level 2 student Simone created a brown and blonde blended creation on a long-haired model.
Part one of the competition was an in-college photographic heat for which Simone submitted her portfolio to the judges along with 700 other students.
She was selected as one of the final 15 and invited to the live heat at the Stafford academy.
Emma Forgie, Simone’s hairdressing tutor, said: “I am unbelievably proud of what Simone created and how far she got in the competition. She is a great student who picks up techniques really quickly.”
