Lions experience fastest zipwire in Europe for charity
THREE daredevil members of Maghull and District Lions have experienced a zipwire in Snowdonia to raise money for good causes.
Keith Patterson, from Formby, Alan Todd, who has Melling connections, and Jane Keal, from Skelmersdale, each had a go on the zipwire which is understood to be the fastest in Europe and sees those that go on it descend at more than 100mph over the lake by the disused slate quarries.
Derek Murphy from Maghull and District Lions said: “In support of the newly formed local charity Maghull and District Lions, three of their members braved the event to raise funds for the causes which this Lions club supports in Maghull, Melling and Aintree.
“Happily each of them live to zipwire another day and each described the event as exhilarating. Given Jane suffers from vertigo her efforts were astonishing. Each thanks all their many sponsors for raising what is hoped will be £1,500.
“Alan has strong Melling connections, Keith is from Formby and Jane from Skelmersdale. So Maghull is a diverse group always looking to build on its existing membership. Often it's easier to join a newly formed club and enquiries are most welcome from prospective members on 01704 840712 (Derek). Don't worry you wont have to enter a zipwire if you don't feel up to it."
