County councillor gets the low-down on firefighters’ role
COUNTY Councillor Nikki Hennessy, a member of the Lancashire Combined Fire Authority, visited her local fire stations in Ormskirk and Skelmersdale to talk to firefighters about their experiences in the service.
Cllr. Hennessy, who also used to work for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service as a care services liaison officer, was given a tour of the stations with a chance to inspect the fire engines and talk about the vital role the service plays.
She said: I have huge admiration for the firefighters, both full time and retained, and I wanted to thank them for keeping our communities safe.
“I know from my time as both an employee of Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and as a member of the Lancashire Combined Fire Authority that firefighters are incredibly brave and very professional.
“This was highlighted to me when I was talking to them about some of the fires and incidents they have attended and when they gave me a demonstration of some of the equipment in the station.”
