    Danielle Thompson

PUPILS from Hamilton Dance in Maghull competed in the North West Dance Challenge at St George’s Hall, Liverpool... and were crowned Champion of Champions!

The dancers entered six group and five solo dances and walked away with an impressive 10 trophies.

Among the trophies were first places for Lucie Deakin and Emily Aisbitt and third place for Holly Duckworth in the solo sections. In the group section they were awarded three firsts, two seconds and two special awards for Best Technique and Champion of Champions.

This success comes two weeks after the Four Seasons Festival which was held in Darwen, Lancashire. Here the girls competed across the weekend and brought home a whole host of medals and trophies to add to their collection.

The club recently held auditions for their juvenile dancers who have once again been invited to take part in the Liverpool Epstein Theatre Production of Peter Pan. A total of eight girls were selected to represent the school and have commenced rehearsals. The pantomime takes place throughout December.

The school gives its pupils a variety of performance opportunities and some of them will be performing as part of a charity show in aid of The Owen McVeigh Foundation. This Foundation has been set up in memory of Owen McVeigh who was only 11 years old when he passed away after a short diagnosis with leukaemia. The purpose of the charity is to raise funds to help and enrich the lives of children who are ill with cancer and their families in the local area.

The performance takes place on Tuesday, November 28 in St Helens Hall.

The school will be performing a selection of dances from their summer show and will share the stage with dancers from local dance schools: North Liverpool Dance Academy, Pirouette, Finesses, Impact and Theatreworks.

Anneliese Hamilton-Stevens principal of Hamilton Dance said: “I want to thank everyone involved for their continued support. We have a truly remarkable group of children and young adults.”
