Luke has his dreadlocks chopped off for charity!
A CHEF in Crosby who grew dreadlocks for nearly ten years chopped it all off to raise more than £1,000 for charity.
Luke Guy, 25, braved the shave last week after deciding it was the right time for a new look and the idea led to a charity night held at So Salsa restaurant, where he works.
The money raised will be given to local cause TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More) as the owner, Andy Peters, has a close connection to the charity and has supported it for two years.
Andy said: “We’ve all been joking saying how Luke needed to get his hair cut because he needed to grow up and leave his youth behind him!
“We thought it might be a good idea to do it in the restaurant and then the idea escalated and it became a charity night in support of TEAM.
“I think it's important to support local charities. Everyone has heard of the national ones, like Cancer UK, but people aren't too familiar with local causes. We also support Charlie’s Chance, another local cause, because they also do brilliant things in the community.”
TEAM has a holiday home at Talacre Beach Resort, in North Wales, which they allow families who are affected by disabilities or disadvantaged to enjoy for free.
However, there are ongoing costs to keep the home, such as electricity bills, so they are constantly looking to raise funds.
