Men-Aces six invited to trial for Team GB squad
SIX members of Skem Men-Aces have been invited to travel to Yorkshire for Mencap Team GB trials with a chance to represent the country at the Euros in Geneva, Switzerland in June.
The six are Haydn Pulford, Stephen Rimmer, James Hughes, Darryl Morris, Theo Duke and Mathew Coppell.
Men-Aces coaches, Carl and Mim Eaton, said: “Once again this is a fantastic opportunity for our lads, and a massive honour for not only the club and the players, but also for Skelmersdale.
“The trials are well attended by hundreds across all corners of the UK, and just to be chosen for the trials is an honour and a wonderfully exciting experience.
“It’s also a tense occasion for the lads who have to showcase their football ability under the watchful eye of the Team GB coaches who look at all aspects of their game, including their attitude on and off the pitch.
“Over the last few years the Men-Aces have had seven players who have represented Team GB and each and every one of them has said it’s like a dream come true.
“For them it’s an emotional journey - from getting picked, their first time flying, first time abroad and playing in front of large crowds against many other different nationalities to simply eating different foods and singing the national anthem.
“We would like to wish the six lads all the luck in the world and to say how proud we are of them all.”
