Bishop drops in on pub quiz - and wins!
REGULARS at a monthly quiz organised in aid of St Michael and All Angels Church in Dalton were joined by a special guest when the Bishop of Whitby, Right Reverend Paul Ferguson dropped in!
The bishop attended the quiz at the Prince William pub in Beacon Lane, on Thursday, March 7 as part of the Archbishop of York’s Tell, Serve, Give initiative to spread the Christian message throughout the Diocese of Liverpool.
Quiz organiser, Gaynor Goodson said: “We hold the quiz in aid of St Michael and All Angels Church every month, usually on a Tuesday but we changed the day so the bishop could join us.
“The bishop was welcomed by everyone and talked to each of the people in the different teams. We felt very privileged that he came to our quiz.”
The quiz - which was won by the bishop’s team! - raised £101, taking the total to date from 10 quizzes to £858 and on target to hit the £1,000 mark in the next two sessions.
Landlord of the Prince William, Dave Roy, tailored the questions to suit the occasion and also provided a free sausage and chip supper for the participants
Gaynor added: “I want to thank Dave for his help in organising the events.
“Although some people who took part in the quiz are from St Michael and All Angels, an increasing number of people come from the local community. The church is held in high regard by people in Skelmersdale and the local area.”
