and international awards along the way. With many TV shows and appearances under his belt and with his Celebrating 25 Years tour now completed, the rest of the year sees Peter taking part in Grease: the Musical!

He will head up a lineup that will also include Wet Wet Wet and their singer, Liberty X star Kevin Simm, who won the Voice UK in 2017, as well as 1980s Liverpool legend Sonia.

The annual event, funded by BID levy payers, has grown each year, with a spectacular day of entertainment bringing visitors from throughout the region.

The BID will be putting on an ‘exciting day’ of entertainment, fairground rides and street performances to ensure families can stay and enjoy the festivities all day.

Sarah Rodriguez, the BID’s event co-ordinator said: “I hope this year’s lineup will bring the biggest crowds yet. Expect a Starkidz show, with your favourite Ice Queen followed by CBeebies headliner, Sid.

“There will be entertainment from local pantos and performers throughout the day until the main show at 4pm. TV presenter and former Heart Breakfast DJ Joel will be hosting throughout the afternoon.

“The last two years have seen crowds in excess of 5,000 for the main event making us one of the biggest switch-on events in the region.

“We have had some great acts and we are really excited to have Peter Andre coming to Southport so we can try and top the last two years!

“There is a full day of entertainment planned so we hope families will make a full day of it and spend time in the town centre, enjoy lunch in the town’s great restaurants and enjoy the atmosphere.”

The big switch on will reveal the BID’s new lighting scheme for 2019 along with the spectacular light show tree and will be topped off with a stunning firework display.
