Lions to hold charity stall in Concourse
MEMBERS of the Up Holland Tawd Vale Lions club will be hosting a fundraising stall in the ground floor atrium of the Concourse shopping centre in Skelmersdale on Saturday, June 23.
They will be selling a range of items including clothes, furniture, books, toys, and general household goods from 9am to 3pm.
And the group’s warehouse, based at unit 28 Gorsey Place, which stores larger items for sale such as furniture, will also be open on the day.
Tom Canavan, president of Up Holland Tawd Vale Lions, said: “We are expecting news soon about getting a new site within the Concourse.
“We previously had a shop in the centre for about 20 years which helped us to raise and serve the community until it closed about 18 months ago.
“But we are hoping for a good response on Saturday and we expect a lot of members to be helping on the day.”
Some of the money raised by the Lions goes to help families in need who have been referred by authorities. And they also help other organisations, such as groups for pensioners, children’s football teams, and local boxing clubs, as well as working with the foodbank at the Evermoor Hub.
Membership of the Lions club is open to both men and women and meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at the Digmoor Community Centre. Anyone interested in joining can contact Tom on 07731 586 463.
