Men-Aces tackle track marathon in aid of good causes
MEMBERS of the Skem Men-Aces squad took on a gruelling 26.2 mile track marathon as a four-man team relay.
They ran 105.2 times around the running track at Edge Hill University for good causes.
The track marathon was the Men-Aces’ annual fundraiser to help improve awareness and collect funds for themselves and others.
These include Ben's Buggies, which is a lad and dad team, Ben and Gary Jones, who run everywhere with Ben in his Buggy in order to provide more running buggies for other children with disabilities.
Funds were also raised for Skelmersdale JFL for their tractor and ground fund to help keep grassroots football going.
Mim and Carl Eaton from the Men-Aces said: “With miles of smiles the lads started clocking down the laps and miles with bags of enthusiasm.
“Regardless of ability the Men-Aces all did the fundraiser, either running, walking or in wheelchairs.
“All the lads performed amazingly, and received a nice medal and a goody bag, as well as achieved a sense of satisfaction that they had been involved in something way out of their comfort zone to help others.
“I want to thank our volunteers, marshals and coaches who helped us out on the day. They gave us support and handed out water and refreshments.”
