  • Just days left to apply for a place on Prince’s Trust programme

    Danielle Thompson

YOUNG people aged 16-25 have just a few days left to join Southport's next Prince’s Trust team.

The Prince’s Trust programmes offer young people an opportunity to get into employment, education or training. During the programme learners are able to try new things and learn how to work with others, take part in community and residential projects, gain valuable work experience and plan their future. The programme is 16 weeks long and begins on Friday, September 21.

Amy Stark, development officer for the Southport Prince's Trust said: “We are fairly new to the area, with our third team due to start later this month.

“We are running the Team Programme, which is a personal development and employment programme for 16-25 year olds who want to improve their employability skills, gain confidence and improve their self esteem. The programme is 16 weeks long with two sets of work experience, a community project, a team challenge, residential, career planning week and a final presentation celebration. We are trying to get our programme out there, to reach all areas of Southport so we can change the lives of as many young people as possible.”

The free course is appropriate for a range of people and additional support is offered to those who require it. Taking part in the programme will not affect Jobseekers’ benefits.

There are still places available on the courses. Call Amy on 01942 821444 to apply.
