  • Cash stolen in armed raid on security officer

    Tom Martin

A MAN armed with a ‘bladed weapon’ threatened a bank security guard and stole a cash box in a broad daylight street robbery in Bootle.

The incident happened in front of shocked  passers-by when a man approached the security guard outside a branch of Barclays, near the Strand Shopping Centre, at around 10.45am on Thursday, September 27.

The armed robber used the weapon to threaten the guard and then grabbed the cash box and got into a red Nissan Juke, which was driven by a second man.

The vehicle headed off in the direction of Litherland and police later found it abandoned on Jersey Close.

The armed man is described by police as tall, skinny and dressed all in black or dark green with a black baseball cap.

“I would also appeal to anyone who believes they have CCTV or dash-cam footage to get in touch as they may have something which is vital to the investigation.”
