  • Man wanted in connection with ‘dog-on-dog attack’

    Tom Martin

POLICE officers have released CCTV footage  of a man wanted in connection with a ‘dog-on-dog’ attack in Bootle.

On Monday, July 1, a Jack Russell was bitten on the neck by a larger dog during a walk in King’s  Gardens at around 10am, and the injuries were so serious that the pet is still at the People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA),  where it is receiving ongoing treatment.

After the attack, the two dogs were separated, but the owner and the larger dog made off from the scene. Officers hope to identify the man shown on CCTV stood next to  a bus stop in Bootle as they believe he could have information about the incident.

Sergeant Jenni Bowman said: “We’re keen to speak to any witnesses who may have seen the incident or believe they have information to help us identify the man in the video.

“I want to emphasise that anyone walking their dog needs to be mindful of their dog’s behaviour at all times and keep their pet on a lead if it is liable to be aggressive.”

Anyone that recognises the man or has any information about the incident itself should contact @MerPolCC, call 101 or call @CrimestoppersUK anonymously quoting 19100348255.
