Dog from TV advert to be special guest at fun day for Boxer Rescue charity
JOEY’S Legacy Boxer Rescue is holding a family fun day in Lydiate to raise funds for new kennels with the boxer dog from the John Lewis advert from Christmas 2016 to be special guest.
Following an event in May which raised more than £4,300 for the cause, Boxer Fest returns on the charity’s 10th anniversary to Lydiate Parish Hall on Sunday, September 1 from 10.30am to 4pm.
As well as a special appearance by Buster, the trampolining boxer dog that starred in the seasonal television advert.
It will feature a dog show, doggy dash and agility, fancy dress for dogs and children, birds of prey, stalls, hot and cold food, drinks, raffle, tombola, fair rides bouncy castles, performances, and face painting,
Entry is £1 per person and children and dogs are free. Entries for dog show from 10.30am.
Joey’s Legacy Boxer Rescue, run by Netherton woman Nicky Heeley, rescues boxer dogs from all over the world and is trying to raise £250,000 to purchase its own kennels so that it no longer needs to fork out for private kennel care fees..
Nicky said: “To celebrate our anniversary, we are holding our 10th Anniversary Fun day and dog show. It is going to be amazing and we are all dedicated to raising as much money as possible.
“We will also have a very special guest Buster the boxer dog from the John Lewis advert who is a great friend of the rescue.
“If you have adopted, fostered, volunteered, follow us, or are just looking for a fun-filled day out for the family, please join us to celebrate.
“We would love to see as many of ‘Joey's family’ as possible as well as our other four-legged friends as all dog’s welcome.”
