  • Man wanted for questioning in connection with town-centre attack

    POLICE are appealing for information about the whereabouts of a man wanted for questioning about an alleged serious assault.

    John James Jones, 28, of Ennerdale Drive, Aughton is being sought in connection with an incident at about  2.45am  on Saturday, April 28 in Southport Road, Ormskirk which resulted in two men being  taken to hospital for treatment to stab wounds.

    Daniel Rushworth, 29, of Middlewood Road, Aughton, has already been charged with two counts of section 18 wounding and one count of section 39 in connection with the incident and has been remanded in custody.

    However, police say they also want to speak to Jones who is described as 6ft 1in tall with a heavy build and is said to have links to Lancashire, as well as the Merseyside area.

    Detective Inspector Graeme Simpson of Lancashire Police said: “We are appealing for anyone with information about Jones’ whereabouts to please come forward.

    “If you see him, or know where he is, please contact police immediately.

    “Likewise, if Jones himself sees this appeal, I would urge him to attend the nearest police station.”
