STAFF at a Skelmersdale care home were overwhemed by the response to an appeal in the Champion for members of the public to include residents on their Christmas card list.
Management at the Aaron Crest home in Tanhouse Road issued a plea for members of the local community to send cards to the elderly residents some of whom have no relatives.
The response was fantastic with more than 200 cards delivered and proudly displayed around the home. Included among the deliveries were handmade cards from pupils at Holland Moor Primary School after teachers saw the appeal in the Champ.
And one card event found its way to the home from the Channel Islands!
Adrienne Ratcliffe, manager at Aaron Crest Care Home, said: “We have been overwhelmed with the generosity and kindness of everyone who sent residents a Christmas card. They have brought lots of smiles and joy to the home and the residents have had great fun opening them and reading them to each other. Christmas can be a lonely time for those with no family and friends and something as simple as a card can make all the difference.”
