Native American history course to begin

by Danielle Thompson (September 2019)

A COURSE on Native American history is set to begin later this month in Formby.

The 12-lesson course will be held at the Dove Centre at Formby Rail Station from 1.30pm-4.30pm from Friday, September 20.

It costs £60, which can be paid in installments. No previous knowledge is needed.

Course Tutor David Jones said: “This course will tell the story of the legendary Native American chiefs including Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse, Red Cloud, Geronimo, Cochise, Tecumseh, Joseph, Quanah, Seattle and others and also tell the story of the nations which produced these people.

“The lessons will outline their values, beliefs, cultures, visions, charisma, mystique and character as they fought to protect their homelands against colonial powers, the US government and its armies, settlers, migrants, miners, ranchers, and the forces of Manifest Destiny and economic development.

“This is an unforgettable story and journey and a truly Native American experience.''
