A FORMER hairdresser has raised £600 by cutting her brunette locks off for charity to mark her father-in-law’s recovery from cancer.
Mum-of-four Aimee Nothard, 31, from Southport, completed her ‘Brave the Shave’ fundraiser for the cancer charity Macmillan on Saturday, September 7 at The Salon on Eastbank Street.
Her husband Gary’s father, David, was diagnosed last year with kidney cancer and has just had the all-clear.
Since 2015, thousands of people have taken part in the cancer charity’s Brave the Shave fundraiser, which has raised more than £22 million.
She said: “I know a lot of people who have had cancer, including my own father-in-law – I sadly also know of a lot of people who have lost their battle.
“I loved Braving the Shave - the support was unreal and my hairdresser did it free of charge so I raised £600 pounds to help pay for the nurses that help people who are bing treated for cancer.
“It is a truly amazing feeling knowing that so much has been raised, which will help immensely.”
