SOUTHPORT Hesketh Round Table made more than £8,500 for local charities and good causes with their 2019 Santa float.

The group would like to thank everyone that came out in force on the streets of Southport in December to support them.

The volunteers brought Father Christmas to Southport over 14 nights and one Sunday. It was the biggest and most popular float in years, and was assisted from a range of local charities & community groups.

The float pulled by Chris Shaw’s brightly lit truck covered routes from Woodvale through to Hesketh Bank - and added to more than 500 hours’ worth of Santa-time with more than 35 miles of roads covered.

The money raised will support local charities and good causes, including: The Meols Cop Youth & Community Partnership, The Samaritans, The Southport Gymnastic Club, Southport Meols Rotary club and a range of other local groups.

Marc Foreman, ways and means officer for the Southport Hesketh Round Table explained that the additional coverage from the ‘Dancing Santa’ on social media had proved a massive success for the awareness of the charity and Round Table organisation and fantastic for spreading joy and the Christmas magic in the region.
