A GROUP of volunteer sewing enthusiasts are urgently raising funds to make personal protective equipment for staff at Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust.
The ‘Formby and Southport Scrubbers,’ who are linked to the Trust, have set up a page at online donations site Go Fund Me, called ‘Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust Scrubbers.’
They hope to raise at least £5,000 – and donations have already reached £2,105. They are also looking for sewing enthusiasts to help them to make more medical scrubs.
Nancy Lowe, one of the volunteers, said: “We are raising funds to buy materials for our team of volunteers sewers in Formby to make medical scrubs for Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals, to support the increased demands during the coronavirus crisis.
“We are working on these immediately, due to the urgent need for additional supplies of scrubs, so any donations you can make will be much appreciated.
“Not only are we needing funds, but we also need people to sign up via the page if they think their skills will be beneficial.”
