PCC and Lancashire Constabulary are working hard to ensure businesses are paid quickly during pandemic

by Danielle Thompson (April 2020)

LANCASHIRE’S Police and Crime Commissioner and Lancashire Constabulary are working hard to ensure smaller and medium sized businesses are paid within seven days of invoicing during the pandemic.

They aim to help the businesses as much as possible with the economic impact of the coronavirus outbreak and help them with cash flow. This is at time when business in many sectors has slowed due to the restrictions in place to tackle the spread of coronavirus.

The measure is in line with guidance recently published by government for all public bodies across the country to ensure continuity of service at this unprecedented time and support organisations who could be at risk due to the subsequent economic pressures.

The Commissioner is committed to do what he and the force can to support their suppliers during what is a tough time for companies of all sizes - in line with his commitment to 'Backing Lancashire' businesses through the procurement process and driving social value in the county.

He said: “Ensuring that we support smaller businesses, who are really important to the prosperity of our county, is the right thing to do and totally in line with my commitment to 'Backing Lancashire' businesses wherever possible, whilst still ensuring the best possible value.

“Creating safe and confident communities is a key priority in my Police and Crime Plan and that’s why my ‘Backing Lancashire’ campaign supports the work that the force does to put money back into the county by always taking into account the social value of any contract.

“Continuing this work at this time of national crisis is important and by promptly paying companies who are delivering goods or services is one way we can do this.”
