Annual Merseyside Women of the Year awards will now take place in September

by Danielle Thompson (May 2020)

THE annual Merseyside Women of the Year awards have been moved to a new date in September.

Due to the coronavirus lockdown, the celebration of the region’s unsung heroines, which was due to take place on Friday, June 26 at the Crowne Plaza Liverpool, is now set to take place on Friday, September 11 at the same venue.

The change in date means that nominations for the awards will now be open until 11:59pm on Friday, June 12 - with the public vote for the overall Merseyside Woman of the Year open from Monday, July 13 until 11:59pm on Friday, August 14.

Ellen Kerr and Jean Gadsby, organisers of the awards said: “Following advice and updates from Public Health England and the UK Government, we have taken the difficult decision to postpone the Merseyside Women of the Year awards event to a new date on Friday 11th September. Any tickets already purchased will remain valid for the rearranged date.

“The MWOTY awards are a much loved part of the city’s summer events calendar and the decision to postpone has not been taken lightly. However, the health and wellbeing of our team, guests, sponsors, suppliers and inspirational women is paramount.

“We look forward to delivering a fantastic 10th anniversary in September and encourage everyone to take advantage of the extended nomination period, by shining a light on the inspirational women in your lives, communities and workplaces.

“We would like to thank the team at Crowne Plaza Liverpool, our suppliers and our fabulous MWOTY family for its support and patience during this uncertain and unprecedented time.”

In light of the ongoing pandemic, the MWOTY team is continuing to follow updates and guidance from Public Health England and the UK Government and any further information will be communicated via the MWOTY website merseysidewomenoftheyear.co.uk and social channels.

If any existing event ticket holders have questions regarding the new date, please contact Ellie or Jean via the MWOTY website.

You can nominate online, via email or by post. For more information, guidelines and to nominate visit: https://merseysidewomenoftheyear.co.uk
