Gymophobics step up to help hospice

by Danielle Thompson (May 2020)

SPORTS enthusiasts have raised more than £1,000 for Queenscourt Hospice by taking on fun challenges including hoola-hooping, 10k walks and counting steps.

Helena Knapton and Anne Molyneux from Southport Gymophobics based on Bispham Road, Southport, were devastated they couldn’t take part in the Star Trekk challenge for the Kew hospice after it was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Helena said: “Gymophobics staff and members still undertook their own challenges to raise funds. “This included walking 10km around their neighbourhood, round the park, ‘round and round the garden, like a teddy bear’ as well as counting steps and hoola-hooping!

“We are thrilled by the generosity of our wonderful members and have raised £1,085.04 with Gift Aid - and the page is still open.” To add to their donations, go to https://is.gd/nfnRM6
