RAINBOW Hub’s Virtual Ramble on Saturday (May 9) has raised more than £17,000 and counting for the Mawdesley based charity, which supports children and young people with physical and neurological disabilities.
Normally, at this time of year, they would have been organising hundreds of people who would have been rambling 5 or 11 miles around the Lancashire countryside but they had no option but to cancel the event in the current situation. They didn’t give up and decided to try a Virtual Ramble asking people to stay safe but to make a donation and use their daily exercise or activity at home to take part and more than 400 supporters took up the challenge.
Lyndsay Fahey, Head of Fundraising at Rainbow Hub, said: These Superhero challenges represent huge efforts on the part of the children and can be seen on Rainbow Hub’s Facebook page.
“We are amazed and delighted with the support we have received – it is a fantastic result and it was brilliant to see the community coming together to support a local charity. We are extremely grateful to everyone who took part or donated, especially JMW Solicitors, Accss4Lofts, Chris Pilkington, officers from West Lancashire Neighbour Police and A & S Holdings.
“We have no statutory funding and rely on events and grants to raise the funds needed to provide the services which are so vital for the children we support.”
