A LITTLE girl who adores animals has raised more than £1,520 to help Chester Zoo.
Ella Monaghan, eight, from Maghull, took on a sponsored 5k walk around Park Haven Trust for the Chester Zoo Charity. She completed three laps, encouraged by her stepsister Lily, stepbrother Andrew and little brother Michael, four – all while wearing tiger-themed face paint!
More than £1million was raised in 24 hours recently for the zoo after chiefs said the lockdown had left it ‘at risk of extinction and faced a year-end debt of £24m.
Ella’s mum said: “Ella has a neurological condition called optic nerve hypoplasia, it makes her suffer from anxiety so this has been a massive achievement for her.
“The zoo, it’s very close to her heart. We will definitely be showing our support and going to the zoo now that its open again.”
