The Trustees of Hesketh Bank Community Centre are celebrating after the online balloon race they took part in raised funds for their redevelopment.
The race, organised by Ecoracing.co, made over £300 for their project to erect a brand new, purpose built and fully accessible hall.
Steve Kirby, Chairman, said, “Thank you to everyone who took part in the virtual balloon race and supported our fundraising during lockdown. This was a change from our usual activities, necessitated by the current situation, so we are grateful that people took to it and hopefully they had some fun too.”
Ecoracing.co is the world’s only virtual balloon race system that offers an eco-friendly and safe way to raise money during the Coronavirus lockdown. The seven day simulation used live weather data to determine the progress of each balloon. Participants were able to personalise their balloons too and change specifications to improve their chances of winning. The funds raised moves the Trustees closer to achieving their target of £394,000 for the rebuild, which they still hope to have in place by the end of 2020.
