A GROUP of youngsters from a Beavers group pitched tents in their back gardens after their camping trip was cancelled!
The children, who are from the Crosby 4th Scouts, were left disappointed after their camping trip was scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Instead, they decided to put their tents in the back garden and joined a Zoom call so they could still have fun with their friends online.
Mike Chambers, the Chairman of the Executive Committee for Crosby 4th Scouts, said: “Through virtual means the camp still ran! At the start of camp they were joined by Tim Kidd our Chief Commissioner for UK Scouting who talked about Beavers around the UK.
“Later in the day they took part in many events including the usual setting up camp, making a treasure map, scavenger hunt and learning knots.
“All activities were designed to enable the children to achieve the badges that a normal camp would offer, and give them skills for life.
“From a mental well-being point of view this has been crucial for children as it gave them a chance to see friends they would normally see on a daily basis at school.”
