THE fate of the Ormskirk MotorFest will be decided by the end of this week, according to West Lancashire Borough Council chiefs.
Thousands of visitors flock to the annual event in August each year, with the 10th annual event due to be held on Sunday, August 30, organised by the Aintree Circuit Club and West Lancashire Borough Council.
Due to social distancing guidelines, a wide variety of popular family-friendly events have been cancelled across Sefton and West Lancs. These include the Southport Food and Drink Festival, Southport Flower Show, Southport Air Show and the British Musical Fireworks Championships.
Council chiefs and Aintree Circuit Club are in the process of deciding whether to host the event, with social distancing measures in place, or postpone/cancel it.
Aintree Circuit Club first hosted Ormskirk MotorFest in 2011, where an estimated 7,000 people wandered through the streets of Ormskirk, soaking up the atmosphere and taking in the sights of hundreds of cars and motorcycles, lining the town’s streets.
Last year, estimated figures given by West Lancs Council put the attendance at around 40,000 people.
