A MAN riding a pedal bike was the victim of a “shocking assault” on a Litherland street in front of shocked bystanders.

The 19-year-old was attacked on Ford Lane on Saturday, June 20 at around 1pm after two men pulled up alongside him in a blue Peugeot 308 car.

They got out of the vehicle, assaulted him and damaged his bike. The victim received minor injuries.

A 35-year-old man from Bootle was arrested on suspicion of affray and has been released on conditional bail.

CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing and in the meantime police have released this image of a man (see above) who they want to speak to in connection to the assault.
