THE organisers of the annual Lydiate Classic Car and Bike Show are still hoping to hold the event – but have postponed it to later this year amid the coronavirus pandemic.
It was due to take place on July 5 but the 12th annual show will now ‘hopefully be postponed to later in the year.’
Last year, more than 350 cars and bikes turned up for the event held at Lydiate Parish Hall and more than £5,000 was raised for North West Cancer Research (NWCR). An estimated 1,500 people passed through the gate to look at the amazing display, which included a variety of vehicles from Robin Reliant to Bentley, and all in between, and a Puch Maxi to Harley Davidson. The Volvo from the 1960s hit TV series The Saint also made an appearance. Visitors also got to take a chance on the tombola and a range of stalls in the hall, organised by Lydiate Committee chairman Shirley Brown. Since it began, it has raised more than £40,000 for NWCR.
