POLICE have seized more than 100 smoke grenades and flares after searching a home in Aintree.
Officers used a warrant at an address on Alscot Avenue on Friday, July 3 when they made the discovery.
As well as the smoke grenades and flares, they also found cocaine at the property.
A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of Class A drugs.
At a nearby house on Taunton Drive, suspected drugs were also seized.
Merseyside Police Chief Inspector Andy Rankine said: “This is a welcome seizure, which removes from circulation a significant number of items which could cause serious injury and distress to those in the vicinity.
“I’d urge anyone who knows about similar locations to come forward, and work with all our emergency services to keep people safe and discouraging any mass gatherings at this crucial time.
“It’s vital that we all keeping working together to protect each other and the NHS.”
