LITHERLAND Remyca FC has been named Grassroots Club of the Year by the Liverpool County Football Association.
The local side, who compete in the North West Counties Premier Division, were awarded the accolade for their work in the community, which including raising money for local foodbanks.
A spokesperson for Liverpool County FA said: “Litherland REMYCA have made a fantastic impact within the community, having got hundreds of children involved in the various youth teams, with both boys and girls involved. The youth section has a fantastic end of season get-together with all the coaches and players for a proper end of season day.
“The work carried out by all the people involved is superb.
“The volunteers involved are very helpful and so welcoming, helping people to feel good when they become part of the club. They are also very helpful within the community wherever they can.
“The whole football club from the chairman down to the players themselves enjoy being part of the club.”
A spokesperson for Litherland Remyca said: “We would like to thank the Liverpool County FA for the award.
“We are extremely grateful for all the hard work that everybody involved with the club does.”
