A CENTENARIAN marked his special day with a socially distanced birthday party.
Staff and residents at Southport Rest Home on Albert Road were thrilled to host the 100th birthday celebrations for Manuel Mendick, who has been a resident at the home for five years.
The former RAF medic was married to his childhood sweetheart Yetta for 72 years and had three children, Rozanne, Anthony and Stephen. He went on to be a GP at a practice in Litherland for more than 40 years and lived in Blundellsands.
A keen golfer Manuel was Captain of Lee Park Golf Club and a member of West Lancs Golf Club for many years, Manuel also enjoyed Bridge and is a huge Liverpool supporter.
A spokesperson for Southport Rest Home, who have so far remained coronavirus-free, said: “We would like to thank Manuel’s relatives and friends for following our strict socially-distancing rules at this time.”
