Woman’s death ‘a tragic street injury’ say police

A WOMAN who was found dead in Maghull on Saturday night passed away as a result of a “tragic street injury”.

Emergency services were called to Moorland Road at around 9.20pm on August 15 after the 45-year-old resident was found after suffering a fatal injury about 200 metres from her home.

The woman, who has been named locally as Sue Woods, was rushed to hospital where she sadly passed away.

A 47-year-old man, who is known to the victim, was initially arrested on suspicion of murder but has been released with no further action to be taken against him.

No further suspects are being sought.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We were called to Moorland Road by North West Ambulance Service at around 9.20pm following a concern for safety of a 45-year-old woman in the area.

“The woman was taken to hospital where she sadly passed away. Specialist officers are supporting her relatives at this difficult time.”
