TRADERS in Marian Square have been praised by Bootle MP Peter Dowd for their “determination and positivity” as they continue to work hard to lessen the impact of the pandemic.
The MP was joined by local councillor Marian Atkinson as the pair spoke to business owners and staff who work in the Netherton shopping square.
Traders from a diverse range of businesses shared their stories and the challenges they faced throughout the lockdown.
During the months of closure, shop owners revealed how they started a Traders Association to support each other.
MP Dowd said: “From the start of the conversation the traders spoke about how they were turning a negative into a positive. They were true entrepreneurs and whilst it was clear they had struggled because of the pandemic their determination was impressive.
“The fact they continued to work towards establishing a Traders Association throughout the lockdown while trying to keep their heads above water spoke volumes.”
Cllr Atkinson added: “Now more than ever we need to support our local businesses.
“Please spend local and help assist in the recovery for our business community.”
