A RETIRED daycare manager has Braved the Shave and raised £2,137 for a national cancer charity that is ‘very close to her heart.’
Jan Clough, from Southport, took on the challenge on August 26 in her own garden for Macmillan, when her husband Bob, a Royal Marine, buzzed off her locks!
The mum of five said: "Would you like to help make a difference to someone’s life? I doubt there isn’t one of us who has not at some time had a family member or friend, or perhaps personally, that has been affected by cancer of some sort. We all know what super, amazing people make a Macmillan Nurse, their skills and support are without doubt absolutely invaluable when journeying through such harrowing times. Macmillan Nurses bring great reassurance and confidence with both knowledge and emotional support. They are without doubt ‘Simply the best’.
"Having all my hair shaved off was a little bit scary as you can imagine, however, it is nothing compared to how scary it can be facing cancer. Fortunately no one in this country has to face cancer alone because of our wonderful Macmillan nurses.
“It’s a cause that is very close to my heart as two of my friends have successfully come though bowel cancer, another friend has breast cancer and my niece is battling pancreatic cancer.
“It is such an important cause, please help me to raise more.”
