A 22-year-old Southport man was stabbed to death after a fight at a house party in Spain
It is believed that two British men got into an argument at a property in Ciudad Quesada near Alicante before Ben Nesbitt, from Woodvale, was fatally stabbed in the neck with a knife. He reportedly went out into the street seeking help, but collapsed and died in the early hours of Thursday, October 1 on a public street in an unnamed urbanisation in Quesada. It is believed that both men were at the party with their partners when the incident occurred.
There is no suggestion Ben was at fault.
The Olive Press, a Spanish ex-pat newspaper, has reported that Spain's Guardia Civil have launched a manhunt to find the alleged killer and that they are looking for a black BMW 520D Sport with the registration MW63 MPF.
Tributes were paid to Ben on social media site Facebook, describing him as a ‘funny character’ and a ‘gone way before your time.’
Georgia Crawford wrote: “Rest easy Ben Nesbitt, we have a heavy hole in our hearts tonight. “Remembering nothing but the best funny memories of you. Gone way way before your time, was such a funny little character our space raider. Fly high brother.”
Vicky Moore Robinson added: “Bless I remember him at 12 and I actually called him spacer raider. Lovely lad, just a lost kid, he didn't deserve this. RIP Ben.”
