Tap Room voted pub of year by CAMRA members

MEMBERS of the Southport and West Lancs branch of the Campaign for Real Ale group (CAMRA) have given awards to two bars in Ormskirk.

The awards are nominated and voted on by CAMRA members who have visited all nominated establishments.

The Pub of the Year award for West Lancashire went to the Tap Room No 12 (formerly the Hop Inn Bier Shoppe) on Burscough Street, Ormskirk.

Formerly a shop, it was converted into a single-room bar, and the wooden panels and genuine pub furniture successfully recreate the atmosphere of a traditional pub room.

As well as real ale, they also sell more than 20 gins as well as craft and continental beers.

The Cider Pub of the Year is the Court Leet on Wheatsheaf Walk, just off Burscough Street.

This JD Wetherspoons pub is on two levels with an open air balcony on the first floor overlooking the Ormskirk skyline.
