A POPULAR Beatles mural in Litherland has been repainted by a local artist.
The street art had to be given a fresh lick of paint after it was removed by Sefton Council due to essential building work on a property on Croxteth Avenue.
The mural was completed by Paul Curtis (shown, right) in the same week as John Lennon would have celebrated his 80th birthday, which was on Friday, October 9.
A spokesperson for the council said: “We are delighted that the final touches to the incredible Litherland Beatles Mural is complete after fantastic work by Paul Curtis.”
The mural has be recreated as close to the original design as possible.
The original mural was completed over five days in May 2008 as part of the European Capital of Culture celebrations to mark Litherland’s connections with the Fab Four.
The Beatles performed at Litherland Town Hall and under a previous name The Silver Beetles at The Lathom.
