Homeowner warns others after catching burglar on camera

Homeowner warns others after catching burglar on camera

by Tom Martin (October 2020)

A LITHERLAND resident wants others to be careful and make sure their front doors and windows are locked after CCTV from his home caught the terrifying moment a hooded man tried to break into his house.

The local, who did not want to be named, has clear footage that shows a group of young males with their faces covered walk up his drive on Windsor Avenue.

One of them then approaches his front door and tries the handle before the group then leave the road.

He is urging others to make sure their properties are locked up to reduce the chances of being broken into.

He said: “I’d say there were five lads and the video shows two of them come up my drive. They maybe look to be in their late teens or early 20s if I was to guess.

“The security light at my house has gone on and then they left. Maybe they are looking for easy access to car keys. It’s a quiet area here so they’ve probably tried other houses.

“It’s very unnerving to think about. Thankfully they didn’t get in but other people need to be careful.”

Merseyside Police say anyone with information on burglary is asked to contact a dedicated hotline and email address on 0151 777 7926 or operation.castle@merseyside.pnn.police.uk.

You can also pass information to the social media desk @MerPolCC, call 101 or you can call or the independent charity @CrimestoppersUK anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
