CHIEFS at the UK’s largest charity for parents are looking for volunteers to organise Walk and Talk groups in Southport, Formby and Ormskirk.
Walk and Talks are a chance for mothers and fathers to meet, with their babies and toddlers, for a socially distanced walk, chat and support each other while complying with coronavirus restrictions.
NCT is able to offer these free walks because of an exemption from current restrictions which allows organised parent support groups to meet in larger numbers. Sessions are free, parents just need to pre-book tickets.
Catherine Bartlett, who organises NCT Walk and Talk sessions, said: “New mums and dads are desperate to get out and meet others in the same boat. The Walk and Talk tickets are going like hot cakes in some areas so we’d love to hear from volunteers in Southport, Formby and Ormskirk to get them started there.
“It’s especially important that new parents get this opportunity now as so many are feeling isolated, anxious and uncertain due to the pandemic. If you’re a local mum, dad or grandparent who is willing to volunteer locally, we’d love to hear from you.”
Setting up a Walk and Talk session is straightforward and doesn’t require a great deal of time or effort. Anyone interested can find further information on the charity’s website at https://www.nct.org.uk/get-involved/join-nct-walk-and-talk-volunteer
