Rotarians' Christmas Float will be held outside a supermarket this December due to coronavirus restrictions

MAGHULL and Aughton Rotary Club’s Christmas Float will be held outside a supermarket this December due to coronavirus restrictions.

Ian Agnew from the club told the Champion: “We will not be able to undertake house to house street visits and collections this year in recognition of the increased threat of coronavirus infection to collectors and members of the public.

“However we are delighted to announce that the Float, with Father Christmas, will be located at Morrison’s supermarket Maghull from 10am-5pm on the following days: Friday, December 11; Saturday, December 12; Tuesday, December 15; Wednesday, December 16; Friday, December 18; Saturday, December 19; Monday, December 21 and Tuesday, December 22.

“We hope to be able to welcome local residents at one of the above static facilities – but we will not proceed as planned if any aspect of them is contrary to government advice or instructions applicable at the time.

“We look forward to seeing as many families as possible at Morrison’s.

“Our usual Christmas collection for the benefit of local charities and good causes will of course be vastly reduced this year. Any personal donations to help make up some of the shortfall would be gratefully received: Account name: The Rotary Club of Maghull & Aughton Trust Fund. Account no 61603450. Sort code 40-35-29.”
