‘Reverse advent calendar’ boosts foodbank

by Danielle Thompson (December 2020)

A SPECIAL ‘Reverse Christmas Advent Calendar’ has been launched in support of Sefton Food Bank.

Joyce Youds from the Lydiate Learning Trust at Deyes High School in Maghull said: “The initiative, spear headed by our Year 9 Enterprise team, works exactly like an ordinary advent calendar, but instead of taking things out you put things in. These are things like Christmas treats, biscuits, crisps, chocolates, tinned and packet food, household items and of course chocolate and sweets!

“We are packing the food into our fabulous Christmas boxes and hope to fill a van and more with these for the charity who will distribute them to families in the local community who are finding life tough this Christmas.

“If you would like to donate to this great cause please drop off items at Deyes High School reception or you can donate at the Morrisons store in Maghull who, not only provided us with boxes, but have kindly offered to be our collection point in the local community.”
